Old Window to Picture Frame

A few weeks ago, my uncle found a couple of old windows in our barn. (Remember my post about restyling the junk cupboard I found in my basement? Yeah, "finding" things that you never knew existed on your own property are just part of life on an old farm).

My uncle thought that the windows looked like something artistic could be made out of them, and thought that I would be a good person to accomplish the artistic-making. I love that my family thinks of me that way!

Here's what the window started out like. Yes, there is one cracked pane, but it doesn't seem likely to fall out soon, and I think the crack just adds character. I loved all the small panes of glass, and decided that this window was the perfect way to display eight pictures--one on each pane!

Here's what I ended up with, after scraping and painting the frame a light blue/aqua. The glass is textured rather than clear, so I just used painter's tape to tape the photos to the front of the glass. It works pretty good so far, and I love my new frame! And no, I don't intend to keep it outside, but the hanging it on the wall part is Angel's job. All jobs that involve hammers are his job.

I love that I get to have this picture on the wall now! And don't you love that textured glass? I don't think it would be very useful in a window at all, but for a decoration, it's awesome!

I've been wanting an old window for a long time! Looks great! I've even seen where a picture lands just right in the frame and you can do a HUGE picture in the frame. Does that make sense?
