The Things People Say...

A mere few days ago I posted about some of the interesting comments we've gotten on Angel's name.

Then yesterday, Angel went to pick up a prescription, and the pharmacist, upon reading the name on the prescription, asked, "Are you picking up this medication for your wife today?"

Angel, slightly shocked, said, "No, it's for me."

The pharmacist apologized for her mistaken assumption, and Angel took it in stride. "It's okay," he said, "I get that all the time."

"Well, this is still America, you know," the pharmacist replied, and gave him his meds.

I don't really know what to think about the "still America" comment, but Angel found it funny. What we learn from this is to never assume. For example, never assume that a lady is pregnant unless you know for sure, never assume that a guy and a girl eating dinner together are boyfriend and girlfriend, because they might be brother and sister, and never assume that a skinny teenager with short hair is a boy. Because that might have been me, five years ago. What? Am I still scarred by that? Just a bit.

Angel is a beautiful name for anyone to have :)

What?! That is so rude! Angel is totally an awesome name, and there are plenty of Angel (men) in America :)

What a jerk. I agree, Angel is a fantastic name for anyone. I don't even have words, the logic behind the whole "it's still America" thing is non-existent.

haha! Loved those last few sentences! You are SO right... I am super duper careful when it comes to that type of stuff. Once, while working in a Christian bookstore, a customer came up to me from behind and asked for a particular book... before turning around I said, "Sure, i'll help you in just a second, sir." When I turned around it was a woman. I died a little, but quickly apologized and didn't give her time to react. haha. HORRIBLE. I totally don't think it's weird your husband's name is Angel, but that's probably because I grew up in the Bronx and know of a bunch of other guys named Angel.

What does that even mean?! Lol. Weirdo. I really like this post!

Oh people.... I can't believe the things they say sometimes. As a girl named "Andi", I get a lot of weird comments, too. In my job, I email with clients quite a bit, and pretty frequently they think I am a guy. I even changed my "signature" to a girly font, to help. My husband also gets a lot of "is that your real name?" comments, since he is a John Smith.

You know what they say when you assume! And this is kind of ridiculous, but amusing. =P
