1. What is the name of your blog and how did you come up with it??

The Random Writings of Rachel was the title of the book I self-published 3 years ago. When I decided to start blogging, I envisioned the blog as a sort of sequel to my book--and I figured I wouldn't sue myself if I stole my own title, so I was safe.

2. What do you love the most about blogging??

I love the writing! I love talking about everyday experiences from a perspective that's a little 'off', shall we say, and I like making people laugh. Someday I'd love to have books published 'for real,' but the publishing world is a challenging one, and I'm grateful both for the writing experience and practice blogging gives me and all of my readers who encourage me so much--you all give me faith that "Hey, maybe I actually can write!" when all I've heard from publishers is "No, you can't."

3. What are your 2 favorite posts you've written?

Captcha: My Perspective

His Real Name is Angel {my thoughts on interracial marriage}

 And that's a preview of my thoughts.

4. What is something you'd want to tell someone just starting out in blog world?

You don't need a great camera or an iPhone to be a blogger. Sometimes it might seem so, but if you don't have the latest toys, don't let the peer pressure bother you. I have a candy bar cell phone and an 8.0 megapixel camera. You'll notice that my blog is not geared toward photography. On the other hand, if you want a photography blog, you probably do need some sort of good camera.

5. Biggest blogging learning experience you've had?

I've learned a lot from reading other people's blogs: from how-tos for blogs, to diy projects for the home, to how to sew (I never sewed before this summer, and now I'm learning from the internet), to the kind of blogger I do and do not want to be!

6. Give us 3 blogs we NEED to be following that you love.

I read every post from these ladies!

I totally agree on your number 4 and guess what, I too am married to a Spanish speaking guy. The only difference is that he´s born and raised in Spain! :)

I am in an interracial marriage as well. And I think that's awesome you have published a book. Very cool. I also agree how the diy stuff for me has come from blogs and ideas. I love that!

I'm surprised more people's answers about their favorite part of bloggeing wasn't writing. I mean, mine wasn't either haha but I thought for sure that would be the #1. And I had to laugh at #4 it definitely seems like you need a dlsr and an iphone to be a blogger sometimes! I of course have neither.

It's the kind of cellphone that is just a little rectangle (shaped like a candy bar), rather than a flip phone or one with a slide-out keyboard. I like mine because it breaks much less easily than fancier cell phones! ;P

I just have to say...those publishers don't know what they are talking about. I beg to differ with them!
