Two Years Down

The anniversary pictures, like most decent pictures on this blog, were taken by my brother Isaac. The crazy poses are thanks to Angel and I and the fact that it was 30 degrees outside (temperatures below freezing are known to incite insanity on my part). And yes, I did wear that denim jacket on my wedding day.

It's our 2nd wedding anniversary today, which means that Angel and I are at a location which has not been disclosed to me at the writing of this post.

Since this day two years ago, we've lived in one house, bought one bed, and have taken zero airplane flights. We survived one year plus of Angel working night shift, and multiple mild illnesses and ailments. We've also  gone through multiple pets (we don't seem to have the best luck with the lifespan of our kitties in spite of naming them after antibiotics and other drugs). We've vacationed in Kentucky, Ohio, Texas, and Minnesota together. I graduated from college and Angel started taking classes towards his Master's degree. We have yet to attend any weddings as a married couple. Apparently our getting married was not enough to influence our friends into thinking it was the 'in' thing to do.

Among other things, we've mastered the art of balancing the camera on the car to take pictures.

I got my first illustrated story published in a children's magazine. I started a blog. I've been adopted by various relatives on the holidays that Angel works every year. We've been stranded on the road several times, and have had to get our cars towed twice. Because of this, Angel has spent many hours either underneath or under the hood of both of our cars. I still have never learned to drive a stick shift. Angel has locked us out of our cars three times. I've painted three rooms in our house. Angel has dabbled in plumbing and home electricity repair.

Angel has learned what it means to go to a tractor show and I've learned that a taco with 'everything' on it means a taco with meat, onions, and cilantro. I've eaten guava, jicama, and cactus fruit for the first time in my life and he's fallen in love with chicken butter masala and naan bread. We've gone to a rodeo and a baseball game, and to my first country concert. I've learned that Angel's favorite food is onions and that some of the things that make him happiest are glow sticks, fireworks, and prisms. Angel's learned that the best way to make me happy again after a fight is to spontaneously buy me the dollhouse of my dreams, and that the correct response when I excitedly show him my purple and black french manicure is,  "You look like a genius, honey!"

It's only been two years, and I can hardly remember life without Angel in it.
