It got me thinking about the phenomenon of wearing one's husband's clothes. How common is this phenomenon, and for what reasons do wives wear their husband's clothes?
I thought about my own case. It's rare for me to wear something of Angel's. For one thing, I like pretty clothes, and thank goodness, he does not. At least for himself. So most of his clothes are not up to my girly standard of prettiness. And they are also too big for me. Although, as far as husband and wife couplings go--you may have noticed that we're really not too extremely different as far as general body sizes go. So it's not impossible for me to wear one of his shirts and look as if it sort of fits.
But, as yet, 2 years into marriage, I've only commandeered one of Angel's shirts, and that was a very special case. I actually commandeered this shirt when we were engaged. You'll understand why when you see it.
Hmmm...I will be a self-sufficient woman and take my own outfit pictures! Okay, nope, not one of my talents...
Much more 'normal' of a pose when someone else is holding the camera. By the way, I love matching blue shirts to my blue hair!!
See? Now, I didn't really think that Angel should be going around promoting the kissing of nurses, but I decided it was perfectly okay for me to. And I found it utterly hilarious when, every time I wore this shirt, people would ask, "Are you a nursing student?"
And I would say "No," with no further explanation, leaving them completely confused.
So, I believe I had very good reason to steal, and to continue to steal, this special shirt of Angel's. Do any of you wear your husband's clothes for any particular reason?
I love to sleep in my husbands clothes. They are so comfy and also--his closet in our bedroom, while mine is in the guest room all the way upstairs, so I've found a laziness on my part when getting ready for bed...I also love how they smell and they make me feel closer to my husband. :P However, if I saw him trying to wear my clothing for the same reason, it would be very comical. :) I love your hair! It is super cute. And the blue is adorable.
My husband and I did the long distance thing for a year while we were engaged and during that time I slept in one of his shirts quite often. He's quite a bit bigger than me so it was cozy to wrap up in and made missing him a little more bearable.
I still do this on occasion but not so much anymore.
My Husband is much taller and broader than I am. I wear his t-shirts and pajama pants to lounge around in, when I am nearing the end of pregnancy. Because by that time, my own pajamas don't fit, and who wants to spend money on maternity pajamas.
But other than that, no, I'm with you on liking pretty clothes.
I think it's so cute when girls wear their guy's clothes, but I can't wear my husband's stuff. I'm 5'1 and he's 6'4. So, actually I could wear it, shirts would just be dresses. :)
I steal my boyfriends clothes all the time :) Right now I have his jacket and I love wearing it. It makes me feel closer to him when he's not around. Plus he wears usually dress shirts so I like to mix them into my outfits.
Haha - I love that shirt. It definitely is better worn by you than him. ;) I don't really steal Isaiah's clothes because 1) they're too big and 2) I don't see the point, but every once in a while I'll borrow a hoodie (if we're lounging around the house and I just want something huge and comfortable to wear) or a t-shirt, if all my baggy post-workout t-shirts are in the laundry.
i have a sweatshirt that I "borrowed" 4 years ago and counting from when my husband and i were dating. i slept with it and wore it all the time at home. when i went to see him i would put some of his cologne on it too....it was a comfort for me. till this day it is "his" sweatshirt and he gladly lets me have it.
When he is out of town and I miss him I wear it. I'll be sporting it this weekend :-)
ha ha, my husband and I share the same shoe size so I totally steal his shoes (and he has occasionally worn mine although he doesn't generally admit it!) We also wear each other's hats and toques.
yes you definitely need to claim that one as yours!! I have yet to wear my husband clothes!
lol. this is hilarious. and hilarious that your husband had the shirt in the first place... too funny that ppl would ask you if you are a nurse.. LOVE it!
yeah.... I 'borrow' my husband's clothes all the time. This includes socks. (don't worry they are clean) - they're perfect for boots!!
What a cute shirt! I love it. And yes, I'm in agreement that it's much more appropriate for YOU to wear it. Chase is quite a bit bigger than I am as far as clothes go, but I still borrow his sweaters and shirt sometimes. I wear them with leggings or just around the house. They're comfortable and always smell good and remind me of him, so I like wearing them. Haha.
I have taken over a few shirts of my husbands to sleep in. I don't wear them other than that. Except one. I really like one shirt, but he won't let me keep it.
First off--LOVE your blue hair! Seriously. Within the past year, I've developed this NEED to put a blue stripe in my hair, but the hubs puts his foot down. He doesn't really care about how I cut my hair, what styles I wear, or whatever, but he does NOT want me dying my red hair. Too funny.
When we were dating long distance, Chris gave me a flannel of his to wear. Unfortunately, I didn't understand it was a temporary loan, and I used it to paint in . . . evidence of my creative pursuits are still present in little blobs of blue and yellow on the cuff. Once we were married, I started stealing Chris's shirts because I didn't really have super "casual" clothes. I'd need to make a quick run to the store and didn't have a tee shirt. His fit me perfectly. He got tired of it and, last Christmas, bought me about ten tee shirts for I could leave his side of the closet alone :]
Love the shirt! I've stolen a few of my husband's shirts over the years...mainly stuff that shrunk or he doesn't wear anymore. I do, however, steal his hoodies quite often. They're bigger and comfier!
just a nice cozy sweatshirt! and the t'shirt is cute. i love how you offer up no explanation and just walk away when people inquire about it! stopping by from wiww...enjoy your day!

My husband had a sweatshirt I used to borrow all the time. It's become mine - I don't think it would fit him anymore anyway.
The non-nursing student thing made me laugh!
Cute shirt!
I don't wear my hubby's clothes either. Yuck.
