While I do occasionally take pictures of my real clients' hairstyles in order to build my portfolio, I don't take pictures of them mid-process, because that would just be mean, so here's a silly picture of one of my fake clients.
In all honesty, you probably hope that you won't run into anyone you know immediately after a facial or after getting your eyebrows waxed into the precisely ideal shape, so that no one important sees your face in such a red and blotchy state.
With all the time that women all over the world spend blow drying their hair so that they are never seen in public with wet hair, the beauty salon itself is probably one of the few places where you'll ever see so many women with dripping wet heads hanging out together.
I don't really think that there's any profound point to be made out of this fact. I am merely amused that my job involves making people look silly in order to make them look good. As they say, truth is stranger than fiction.
Why do you think we put up with being made to look ridiculous in order to look "good" in the end?

kind of off topic, but not really. once i tried out a home perm while peppy was at work. i forgot to throw one of the towels into the washing machine, and as soon as peppy walked through the door he was hit with that odor. he thought i was having some serious stomach problems.
interesting, never thought about it that way.
I never blow dry my hair...actually, I think I've blow dried it only about 3 times in my entire adult life (16+) My mom used to blow dry my hair every weekend as a kid, but when I became my own person, I thought it very ridiculous and time-consuming. Especially since I have really thick hair.
Haha so true! I've been using the no-heat curls headband method lately to curl my hair although I look ridiculous in the process. The last time I used it, I had to walk the dog while it was still curling and I was praying I wouldn't run into anyone!

Haha...so true. I think it's because the "looking ridiculous" part is very temporary - a few hours in the salon - while the "looking great" part lasts a lot longer - I can go 4 months in between needing my highlights redone. Kind of like exercise...half an hour or an hour of pain and suffering a few times a week produces great results, and it's worth it!
Haha. It really is funny that we make ourselves look silly to look good. Thankfully, the good lasts longer than the silly. :-)
I'm always praying no one I know passes by when I'm getting my hair done. It always looks so silly until the blow dry and style.

I hate getting ready and doing my hair, but I am trying to get better!
To be brutally honest, I think that it is because we women are terribly vain. That being said, I still love to make myself look silly in order to look good. Carry on. :)
