Angel often says he doesn't like it when we both have the day off at the same time because I distract him too much from doing his homework. This week, he had a paper due, so I agreed to leave him alone and do my own work for three hours while he did homework.
I sat quietly on the other side of the table and read and wrote blogs, but I couldn't help but notice that Angel's homework technique differs somewhat from mine. As he sat down to begin work, he said "I think I'm going to make some rice so I can eat the leftover chicken curry for breakfast."
I say, "That's okay, you start working, I'll make rice for you."
That satisfies him for the moment, and I hear him typing away.
Next time I hear his voice, he's saying "Save. Desktop. Save. Desktop."
Five minutes later, the song "These are the Days of Elijah" starts blaring from his computer.
After the song is finished, he says, "I think I'm going to go watch tv now." I look at him. He laughs. "I just wanted to see the look on your face, I'm not really going to watch tv."
More typing. "Hey," he says, "Guess what. Yesterday was one of the doctors last day at work so I sprinkled glitter on her, and it was awesome. She was working a 24 hour shift so that meant she had to be covered in glitter all night, too!!" I had to agree, that it did sound pretty awesome.
The buzzer on our rice cooker goes off. "Time for chicken curry!!" he says, and he's off to the kitchen.
The first half hour of homework time is over.
The first half hour was followed by him introducing me to the music of Grupo Mojado and translating their songs for me.
I guess this system must work somehow--I mean, he did get his B.S.N.....

Yeah I think my husband and I have different studying habits too. Its interesting when you can compare it between spouses. Its lunch time now and I think I could go for some chicken curry too.

Haha. His studying method sounds a lot like how I study and write. I've always worked best that way which works out well now that I have a 5 year old distracting me every 5 minutes. I love the heart shaped post it notes by the way, I think I have the same ones.
Angel and share the same study method haha! I never got more done around the house than when I had a paper to write or a test to study for.
Haha, my husband is easily distracted when he's doing work too. I need to get into my zone in order to get any work done!

Ha! Looks like your hubby has about the same attention span as mine!
haha, maybe he actually doesn't like you to have the same days off so that you can't see him not studying. That's hilarious.
Oh man, I could never get work done like that...haha! I can NOT be distracted when I'm trying to write a paper or something, it's just no good. This makes me miss college though...
that's awesome. :) I also have a hard time focusing on things when my spouse is home, but mostly because I'd rather be hanging out with them.
ps. now I want to eat rice.
I distract my husband too lol! My husband can somehow memorize a ton of info...whereas I have no memory whatsoever. Makes me so angry!!! He tells me a number or something and I forget it within a minute.
Nate has a hard time when we have time off together too cause he doesn't want to be doing homework when I'm around either. Thankfully, he only has a year left!!! :-) How much longer doesn Angel have?
He has very similar study habits to me haha
I also hated it when my husband was home while I had grad school homework. He would also judge me about my "study" habits.
My husband studied for his law degree and bar exam with headphones on and music blaring all the time. I have no idea at all how he passed. I can't even write a blog post with music in the background! LOL
I can relate to having a studying spouse at home, as mine just wrote his final exam of his final course last night! It is a challenge being a good mate while they study though.
Studying is just no fun in general.
