So, Angel and I were wandering around a little gift boutique in Frankenmuth, Michigan, when I came across something so marvelous that it stopped me in my tracks. At least, I thought it might be marvelous. If the claim on the bottle was true!
You see, I came across a whole rack full of nail polish bottles claiming that they changed color depending on whether you were outdoors or indoors. I admit, I was somewhat skeptical, and so was Angel, so he asked the ladies running the shop if they thought it really worked. They admitted that they'd never tried the nail polish, so they weren't sure.
As you can tell, I tend to be a "I'll believe it when I see it" kind of person. The grand claims on product packaging don't fool me. I'm a bit of a cynic, but only because truly amazing things thrill me to the depths of my being....and I don't want to get that excited about something that doesn't really work.
Still, we bought the nail polish. I picked "Moonstone," a light bluish-turquoise that claimed to change to purple in the sunlight.
And it worked!! The purple picture was taken after just a couple minutes of sticking my hand out the window into the freezing outdoor world on a cloudy day. I did find from experimenting that it does reach a darker purple but I didn't feel like freezing my hands off during picture-taking time.
So, I thought this was cool. And no, nobody needs a color-shifting nail polish, but if you put it like that, no one needs regular old nail polish either. Also, this isn't a sponsored review or anything. Although, now that I think of it, if Ruby Wing wanted to send me free nail polish, I wouldn't say no. Still. I thought I had made the coolest discovery of what modern technology can accomplish, and I thought I'd tell you about it, in case you didn't know. It's also quite possible that everyone already knew about this polish, and I was the only one out of the loop, but I'm happy I know about it now!
On a somewhat related note, does anyone have a favorite top coat they would recommend? I have OPI but I don't think it works that well.

Frankenmuth! That place is the coolest. :)
I've never seen anything like this nail polish. Of course no one *needs* color changing nail polish, but who wouldn't want it?!
woah! thats super cool!! I never wear nail polish (seriously, because I'm lazy) but this is awesome
I love that color! Seriously, so cute!
Kind of cool that it changes colors! I've had naked nails for weeks now because I haven't felt like painting them. Mine chip so easily!!
We used to have a Del Sol (have you heard of those?) in town and they sell color changing nail polish! I always thought it was pretty cool and it seemed to work, but it looks like the one you bought works a heck of a lot better! I love the color, it's perfect for spring.
I have 2 Del Sol nail polishes that change color like that. They also make clothing that changes color in the sunlight.
Even if it didn't work, that turquoise is pretty! Kind of awesome that it works though!
that's so fun! i need a good top coat too - i rarely paint my nails because they always chip so fast!
I love Frankenmuth! My brother lives there!
