10 Reasons Why I am an Awesome Blogger

Because that is a picture of a 3-seater outhouse that once belonged to either a church or a school (my memory is hazy on that point). Then it belonged to my great-grandpa, and for a while it reposed on my parent's property. Most recently, it was moved about a mile away and currently sits on the edge of a small forest owned by my relatives. Now that's a random writing. No false advertising here, folks!

1. This blog is not boring. At least in my opinion.

2. I can spell. Related: I don't use baby words. i.e. hubby, bloggy, totes, etc.

3. I can, and do, punctuate. Not to brag or anything, but I use capitalization appropriately, too.

4. I don't apologize unnecessarily. If I truly were sorry about some characteristic of myself, I would change. If I'm not sorry about anything, and I don't feel the need to change, there's also no reason to say a meaningless, "Sorry." For instance, I don't apologize about the poor quality of my photos, because I have no intention of spending lots of money on a new camera and taking the time to learn how to use it.

5. I always have real content. No hosting blog hops, giveaways only once in a blue moon, and rarely do I ever join a link up.

6. I'm not blown about by fickle trends and changing fashions. You won't see me hating on peplums one week and wearing them the next.

7. I do a fairly consistent job of responding to comments. Sure, on random occasions I can't stand email anymore and I delete every email in my inbox wholesale. But as a general rule, I do respond.

8. I actually read your blog posts. I know that I put time, effort, and emotion into my blog posts, and I know you do the same for yours, so when I read blogs, I give your blogs the respect and the time they deserve, rather than leaving a comment just to leave a comment and get my link out there.

9. I have a hilarious family. This is key, because any one human can run out of topics to write about once in a while. Then I jut ask Angel or my siblings for a little help brainstorming, and I get back on track with new blogging ideas for you.

10.  Lack of perfection. My face isn't airbrushed and my wardrobe isn't name brand. My home looks more like a somewhat dilapidated rainbow than something out of Pinterest. My husband is more likely to surprise me with a fake bat taped to the wall than with a diamond necklace. I didn't take a honeymoon to a tropical resort and I don't drive a car that has all 4 hubcaps perfectly intact. I do love studying the Word of God and dreaming of traveling to different parts of the world. I can eavesdrop on your conversations in Spanish and Mandarin Chinese with the greatest of ease and I can give you a pretty sweet haircut in 20 minutes. To me, this is important because perfection can easily become boring (unless, of course, we are speaking of perfection in spelling, in which case, perfection is completely appropriate).

Contented imperfection, on the other hand, is interesting, and that's why you should keep reading.

What makes you want to read one blog more than another?

  1. I really DO enjoy reading your blog because I never know what to expect, and I'm totally with you on the "comment because you actually read it and liked it" thing! I prefer the blogs that write about things that matter..not just link-ups, reviews, and giveaways.

  2. I like reading your blog because I like you. I like seeing you discover yourself and you make me laugh, and you are bold. I like your boldness.

I don't know what really draws me to blogs. I read some fashion blogs, some home decor, funny blogs, personal blogs, sad blogs, what I really don't read are DIY sewing blogs (I do read a cooking veggie blog) because I sew, I don't want to accidentally steal someones idea. And usually seeing sewing blogs makes me like why didn't I think of that? or omg her pictures are so good mine suck, lol.

  3. I like a blog with original content and whose writer is REAL. I like reading your blogs though I end up not coming as often as I would want.

  4. A 3 SEATER OUTHOUSE? That sounds crazy! Are there just three seats together or are they blocked off? I can't imagine going in with my buddies to do our business together.. hahaha

Thanks for knowing how to spell. I can't believe that I went through an instant messaging lingo phase in high school. It was probably because I was on IM all the time with my friends (before Facebook), but still... I'm glad that it's over.

Your blog is hilarious and pretty fantastic. I can never keep up with all of your great posts!

  9. So basically you're real, and that's why your blog is amazing.

  10. All of this is why I love your blog. No baby words, proper spelling and punctuation, hilarious stories about anything and everything under the sun, no apologies for who you are, and...3-seater outhouses. Enough said. ;)

  11. I read certain blogs because they may be going through the same stage of life as I am. Or I read them because they are consistent. Or because they are plain funny. Sometimes I get ideas of what to write on my own blog from someones post. I just love reading about what's going on in other's lives, kind of like a biography!

  12. amen and amen. I'm definitely guilty of some of those things, haha, but I agree with so many of them! No big name brands for me... haha! too poooor

  13. Haha! Actual writing is what brings me to a blog. Yes, I spell things wrong and yes I rebel against punctuation at times; sort of the same feeling I share with you about email. But the content, the writing, the story of the day, thoughts and feelings and connection. Pictures are wonderful, sometimes... I'm with you if you're looking for trendy or fabulous pics you might want to skip my blog ;) If you might be in need of a laugh that makes you feel better about your own mixed up life... I'm your girl!

  15. On a whim I thought I would come here. And you had me at hello.. but no really.. you had me at no giveaways.. etc. Granted I did the 31 days of may challenge, so don't judge me, danggggggit.

  16. Okay okay you've convinced me =) Following you now! (Though honestly you totally had me at "outhouse." My great-aunt only had a 2-seater though, yours is definitely an upgrade.)

  17. Every time I visit your blog I find myself smiling. I read this and other blogs that make me feel that way.

Today, it was the title of this blog post. And "My home looks more like a somewhat dilapidated rainbow than something out of Pinterest," sent it over the top.

I'm a fan of made up or shortened words, but I can understand they're not for everyone. I love your opinionated spirit. I guess that's why I read this blog too.

  18. So, are 3 people supposed to use the outhouse at one time? I just am really trying to wrap my head around this. :0

  19. "I can, and do, punctuate."

I came across a blog today that was opposed to apostrophes. It was sad.

  20. I love that you don't use baby words and that you are genuinely always you. You rock and I will always be a reader of your blog! xo!

  21. I love all of this!!! I nearly applauded at #2 and #3. These are all the reasons I love your blog. Cheers to real writing :)

  22. LOVE! You are so right about this and that is why I love your blog! :)

  23. I just found your blog and can attest to #1. You are most definitely not boring, you're blog is freaking hilarious! I love your writing style.
Also kudos to you for #8, one of my biggest pet peeves is when people leave comments like "this is so cute!" or "great idea!" and have no depth whatsoever, because you can tell that they probably glanced at maybe one of the photos and completely skipped over the actual blog post. They are just commenting to comment and honestly it's like, why even bother? Ugh sorry, pet peeve of mine.

That's awesome that you know Spanish and Mandarin Chinese by the way. Seriously that's really, really cool.

  24. I like the sincerity and originality in this post. This is the first time I've come across your blog and now I'm thinking I'll have to come back. Funny and honest. Well done.

  25. I totally agree that you are an awesome blogger! And also agree that it is anything but boring :)

  26. Loving #10- bloggers with 'perfect' lives do get really old really quick.. same as those who are selling their soul to brands to make money. When every post turns into a giant advertisement I'm probably going to stop visiting!
Personally I need to work on #4 and 1.. I think my blog is probably boring-- it's something I'm working on :)
