The High-Waisted Pencil Skirt Debate
I learned something new when I was getting dressed this fine Sunday morning. Angel really, really doesn't like high-waisted clothing. Who would have thought?
This was the conversation:
*As I get my chosen outfit for the day out of the closet*
Angel: "Wait. Is that the skirt that goes all the way up your body? Yes it is! Why are you wearing that? Why not something else?"
*After I was fully dressed.*
Angel: "Remember that movie from the 90s we were watching and there was a Mom who had her jeans buttoned up past her belly button, and then they were really tight at the ankles? That's what you look like."
*After I said that I thought he would like to see me in a pencil skirt because he always complains that my full skirts are too poofy*
Angel: "This skirt just disproportions your whole body, you don't look like a human anymore."

Wow, a little harsh, don't ya think? I guess I won't be adding to my collection of high-waisted skirts or pants anytime soon, now that I know his true feelings on the matter. I don't remember him having any objection to this skirt when I found it on the Express clearance rack for $15 a year ago. Personally, I think it looks like the perfect job interview or go to work skirt. Maybe I'll just have to wear it when Angel isn't around so that I don't offend his eyes.
(This is what having a husband who is opinionated about fashion is like.)
Wow lol. I love high waist skirts! I have big hips and they really flatter me! My husband likes skirts on me better then dresses and he always complains about the length if its shorter then below my knees. Hah! Husbands! I like your skirt! And it does look nice on you!
Whoa. He compared a pencil skirt to mom jeans? That's a completely invalid argument. I love pencil skirts.
Well I think it's cute, and you look great in it. Maybe you need to wear it around him a few more times so he can see that he's wrong! haha

haha. sometimes i wish peppy would be a little honest with me. i mean, not to where i'm crying or anything, but sometimes i feel like he ALWAYS tells me that whatever i'm wearing looks nice. even if in his head he can't imagine why anyone would want to go out in public dressed like i am.
That's so funny, men tend to like high-wasted pencil skirts because they show off your shape! I think you look great in it. You're nicer than me, I would have told him he was out of luck, and wear it twice as much. Haha :)

Wow Angel... harsh. First, I don't consider that high waisted. It hits your actual waist... And I think it looks fabulous on you - I've been longing for a pencil skirt that is that long! Mine hit my knees, but I'm always wanting one that's just a wee bit longer.
My husband never ever ever gives any type of decent feedback about clothes. I could be wearing an orange and purple stripped shirt and magenta pants, and he'd be like... you look great. Of course, sometimes he thinks my slips are actual dresses and gets confused thinking I'd be leaving my house in my underwear.
I think it looks cute. Clearly it is nothing like mom jeans.

I actually think that skirt looks awesome on you! There are truly some people who do look terrible in high-waisted skirts and pants (YOURS TRULY) but that's because I have a ridiculously short waist, and high-waisted things literally hit me in the middle of my ribs, and usually right below my boobs. I look like I have no upper body anymore. You just look long and slender.
I think pencil skirts are elegant classics. They're super versatile and you can wear many different kinds of tops. Actually, I find them flattering on a petite figure. They don't overwhelm like some other styles can.
I like high waisted skirts -- it looks great on you!
I love high waisted skirts - but not high waisted pants. I think it's so funny that Angel is so against them. I think that skirt looks adorable on you!

I think that's hilarious! My husband could care less about not only what I wore, but what he wears. I have to beg and plead for him to wear something other than jeans and a tee. But, I do have to say, within the past year or so, high waisted skirts and pants have started to grow on me. I like that that part of the 80s/90s fashion is coming back.

I like the skirt and if you really like it's okay if Angel doesn't because he's not wearing it. Although we do want our partner's approval, sometimes it just doesn't matter. I like your color combo with the red and purple.

High waisted skirts are amazing. I love wearing them. They're just so flattering. Im not a big fan of high waisted pants of shorts thuogh, he has a point on that one.
Jordan (my hubs) used to complain about my high waisted clothing as well. I ignored him and he's come around. :) If you like it, wear it!

men, pfft ..what do they know! my husband is exactly the same. Sometimes i find myself dressing more for what women find chic/cool/funky then what my husband/men like. weird isnt it. However i would just like to say i love this skirt on yu, it emphasises your tiny perfect waist and i would so be emphasizing that if i had it;) it also looks chic and smart to me, perfect for work/interviews! Sometimes i think we need to just go against these husbands of ours and go with what we like!! power to the wives! haahaa :)

I read this on the day I wore a high waisted pencil skirt to work so it made me giggle. Have to admit though, I've never met a guy who doesn't love a pencil skirt and would compare it to mom jeans!
