The Bear Says Just Dance 2014
Just in case it wasn't obvious before now, I'm no gamer. However, Angel talked me into getting an Xbox Kinect last year for Christmas, using the reasoning that it would be a good way to exercise during the winter when neither of us wants to be outdoors. And I have to admit, Just Dance 2014 is a significantly more fun workout than an old-school aerobics video--primarily because of the record feature where, after you complete a song, you get to watch snippets of your own dancing skills. I'm pretty sure the laughs burn as many calories as the dancing.
This review is sponsored by Ubisoft, and if you're interested in a video game for non-gamers, you can buy the Kinect version of Just Dance 2014 here. I don't listen to pop music, and after playing this game, I remember why. It's rated 10+, so, apparently vulgar pop songs are acceptable for anyone 10 years old and older as long as the curse words are left out. Personally, I'd rather choose songs that were appropriate for all--there are also songs in Spanish and other foreign languages, and well as older, clean, well-known songs that are very conducive to silly dancing: "YMCA" and "Prince Ali" are a few of those. There is a karaoke mode...but because I don't know the songs, I don't sing while dancing. The feature that Angel and I decided we liked the most was that some songs have partner dances, so we're able to dance together and compete with each other (because the game scores you on the accuracy of your moves). The game can account for up to four people dancing at once, and definitely don't skip past the playback video after you've finished dancing. That's my favorite part. Even when I'm at home alone while Angel's at work, I'll dance a few songs in order to stop shivering in my 60 degree house--and the recorded videos of my awkward, confused dance moves send me rolling on the floor with laughter.
I can't wait to make my parents and siblings play this when they come for a visit. It will be hilarious.
*For your information, the Kinect apparently doesn't recognize you as a dancer when you're wearing a bear costume and mask. I thought poor Bear did a very good job dancing the whole way through "Flashdance...What a Feeling." but he got 0 points. The video of him dancing was even funnier than the videos of me dancing, so it all worked out for the best!
It was snowing over here for the first time here yesterday, so this game came at the perfect time! What's your favorite way to exercise when it's too cold to go outdoors?

We need bear dancing video!
i LOVE just dance. we also have a just dance: kids version, and it is actually harder than the adult version. maybe because kids are so spastic, so the moves don't make sense? who knows. i hate that the new version has vulgar songs. i don't think the older one does, or maybe we just seem to gravitate towards the songs i know.
I love Just Dance! I haven't ever thought about doing it in costume, but it sure does look fun. :)
lol, you guys are too much. I love Just Dance. And by love, I mean it's the only video game I can tolerate. I'm definitely not a gamer.
I feel like the costume is what makes this. Although I have to admit, I am not a fan of Just Dance! I feel so silly doing it :P

That's too bad the bear couldn't participate too!
It snowed here yesterday too. Nothing stuck but still... it's too early!
I love the Just Dance games! (I have the Wii version) I do have a beef with it though, the game doesn't seem to recognize people who are actual dancers! Anytime I play with my siblings...I always get the lowest score. They all think it's hilarious!
I've wanted to get a dance game...well we need to get the console first but it is on my list. Seems like fun.
Boo on the snow for you.
bisous

adorable :P
Oh my, I wish we could have seen the Bear dancing playback haha. I can't believe you've already seen snow!
the bear costume is so funny! it's too bad the Kinect didn't pick it up, lol.
cute & little
That looks like so much fun, especially as a bear! I'm so excited for snow, I've never seen it fall before!
I played this once recently at someone's house, it is SO fun! And like you said, the video replays are just as hilarious as actually dancing...makes me almost want to get a Kinect. We have a Wii (that we literally never use) but it's not quite the same.
Looks like it's much fun. Never get's too cold to go outdoors, though.Your photos made me smile :-)
JEALOUS! :P I have Just Dance 2,3, & 4 for Wii. Basically my replacement for going to the gym (I hate going to the gym, and haven't since I've been in college haha). I was kinda iffy about some of the song selections on Just Dance 2014 myself. 2014 looks like it has more vulgar content than any of the older ones, sadly :\ I would definitely recommend you try some of those if you get a chance! :)
Hahaha, so much fun!
I love the pictures of you two dancing together! You are such a fun couple. Angel makes the best silly faces too. :)
My students LOVE watching - and "playing" - Just Dance videos from YouTube. I have a Smartboard (like a large projector with a screen) in my classroom, so we'll move the desk and dance away! All the kids participate and try their hardest. I love it because it gets them up and moving, and helps their eye-motor coordination. Some of the dances are HARD - my aide and I get tuckered out trying to follow along!
I bought my husband a Kinect but we haven't used in it forever! We may need to break it back out and use it.
That looks like too much fun!!!
Haha I love playing XBOX Kinect, and I LOVE that he dresses up for it!
