The Controversial Things I Do

I must warn you, this is a very incomplete post. I'm only talking about the controversial/scandalous things I've done so far this week. This picture captures both of them:

(I hate selfies. But my photographer was at work.)

Monday: We set up the Christmas tree. This might make a little more sense if you read about our new plans. Trust me, I have a good reason here. We are working towards moving overseas, and that means major downsizing. Because of that, we're getting rid of our lovely 7 ft. Christmas tree by packing it up before Christmas and giving it to some relatives. Because I won't get to enjoy our tree all the way till Christmas, I convinced Angel that we should have the fun of setting it up one more time. So you can complain all you want, but that Christmas tree is staying up in our home till we pack it up in December.

Tuesday: I added a little blue back to my hair. It's not yet as bold and as striking as I was looking for, though when I was doing the coloring I was purposefully going for a more subtle look than last year's blue streak (For a review of my hairstyles last year, see this post). I guess I'm just not the biggest fan of subtle when I see it. (Why are we talking about subtle and blue hair in the same sentence?) I may change it up a bit to make it more dramatic or I may not, we'll see. Anyway, the reasoning behind this was also related to our move. I'm applying for and passionately looking forward to landing the type of job where blue hair won't be welcomed. Therefore, I thought I'd make the most of this period of hair freedom and finish up my bottle of blue haircolor!

Now, seeing as that's how the week started out, I can't wait to see what Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday will bring. Have you done anything scandal-inducing in the last few days?

Big changes for the move : )

Nothing scandalous so far happening here. Although paying $50 for two drinks at a bar is pretty scandalous if you ask me.

Gah I remember when I used to add a little pop of color in my hair. I worked at the Gap for all of a minute (I HATED that job) and used to dye the underneath of my hair all sorts of different colors. I can't believe that flew there!

Now I feel like I'm too old to do that. Plus it wouldn't fly at work (my tattoos will but a colored streak won't? Explain that to me). Still I kind of miss those days. I love the look on you!

You're just so adorable! And that blue stripe is so cute! And as for the Christmas tree, just tell yourself you've put it up to celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend. It kind of makes sense, right? :-) X Jane http://janeheinrichs.blogspot.com

I wish I had the guts to even highlight my hair :) Apparently, my natural hair color is one that most people do not have, and I'm afraid if I start coloring it then I will never get it back again :) So I'm stuck with this honey colored blonde/brown hair that can't make up its mind what color it wants to be! As for the Christmas tree...I haven't even decorated for Christmas the past 2 years. 2 Christmas go I was in the midst of a move, and last Christmas we were working so much, and were going out of town for Christmas, so I didn't even bother! THIS year, I am making the MR. take me to a Christmas Tree farm and to cut me a tree. It'll be our first Christmas just US as a married couple since we had Christmas in Florida with my family last year, so I figure decorating is a MUST!

You are so scandalous! But the stores set up their trees before you did, so I think you're OK :D

I see nothing wrong with a Christmas tree in October, especially considering your circumstances, and even more especially considering Target already has their Christmas items out. If the retail stores do it, why can't we? Haha

Love it! The Christmas tree and the hair! You look great :) I haven't done anything scandal inducing. Yet...

The blue looks great! I was thinking of dyeing the under layer of my hair next May after the weddings and picture taking so I won't clash with the wedding colors. Is under layer the correct term? Inside layer?

I love the blue! It suits you.

And don't feel bad about the Christmas tree. It's taking every ounce of self control for me to not start blasting Christmas music and hanging up snowflakes around the house.

I wore socks with sandals twice this week. Once because I was cold, the second time because my socks were too awesome to hide under shoes.
That's exciting news about your move! Enjoy Christmas in October in the meanwhile. Hugs!

I can't wait to hear about your overseas adventures. Coming from a perfect stranger (ish?) I know when I read your planning post that you made exactly the right decision. It clicked.

i like the blue streaks! Fun! And I think that is a perfectly reasonable reason to put your tree up in October!

Wish I had a great reason to set up the tree! I will live vicariously through you and Angel enjoying yours until the day after Thanksgiving, I suppose. :)

I briefly contemplated pulling out some Christmas decorations, but then realized two things... I would be sick of them by December, or I'd become so accustomed to them that they'd still be up next Christmas. Haha!

Love your hair!

I love your hair and I totally want to decorate for Christmas soon!

I love the blue in your hair! I was shocked to read about the Christmas tree, until I read your reason behind it. Sounds like an exciting time for both of you!

I think putting up the tree is a GREAT idea. I fully support it. And the blue looks amazing in your hair. Putting crazy color in my hair like that is a goal of mine. I'm just not so sure how well it would go over at the law firm I work at, so that dream will have to wait for now :)

The reason behind you putting up your tree makes a lot more sense and completely understand. I really like the blue hair!

You've just convinced me to put up our tree early. Christmas makes me happy. And the way things have been going lately, I need all the happy I can get.

I love this! If I really let myself do what I want to do, I'd keep my Christmas AND Halloween decorations up all year.

That's super-cool! and the shops beat you in setting up their trees so you're probably ok :)
