New Shoes

Makeup bores me. Purses are a necessary evil. Scarves aren't exciting. Even jewelry, though fun, isn't terribly enticing.

But shoes. Every once in a while, I stumble across another pair that so stun me with their perfection that I can't get them out of my mind. We were wandering around Dillards, actually looking at men's shoes for new work shoes for Angel. I somehow found myself in the women's shoe section (how did that happen?) And before I knew it, I was running back to Angel, cradling this black and white oxford-type shoe in my arms. "Look at it! Isn't it perfect?"

Angel was hesitant, "I don't know...it isn't sparkly. I only like sparkly shoes."

"But these look like the perfect shoes! I could wear them with dresses or with jeans or slacks or anything!"

(That seems to be my reasoning behind all shoe styles that I love. Remember how I argued that Doc Martens could be worn with anything?)

I've actually had the idea of getting a pair of oxfords for about a year now, but I've never yet found a pair that was perfect. The cheap ones didn't look nice and the expensive ones were just that, expensive! I found out that I could get these shoes for about 50% off, which made the final price $30. Angel reminded me that I still had Christmas money from my parents and grandparents, so that clinched the deal. I came home with new shoes--the kind that make me smile every time I see them on my feet!

What's your thing? Shoes, purses, coats, dresses, jewelry, makeup? Or are you one who finds none of this very frivolous stuff interesting?

Yay new shoes!!! I love new shoes. But really, I love all accessories! Give me a great pair of shoes, though. I have to admit they are my favorite accessories. And then jewelry :)

I'm not a big shopper but I do love purses. I think its because it doesn't matter what size I am- they don't need to "fit."

These shoes are too cute! You definitely found a great pair. And I'd probably agree with you, shoes are the most exciting of accessory options.

Shoes and scarves are my weaknesses. I like jewelry and purses, but shopping for those doesn't feel like Christmas morning. SHOES DO.

Love the shoes but how can you say scarves aren't exciting when look how cute that one is in your hair! I'll have to agree to disagree about purses, especially the cute vintage ones. ~Ann

Shoes! Definitely shoes for me too. DSW clearance aisle is a scary place for me...

For my husband, it's zip-up sweatshirts. So we each have our vices!

my husband knows i'm bored by makeup and purses and scarves and jewelry. the good news here is that whenever i want shoes or sweaters... it's an easy request :) and, while sparkly shoes are great, i'm really liking your oxfords too :)

I'm not one for purses or makeup, but shoes and dresses and scarves are my guilty pleasures! I have 6 pairs of boots...it's bad.

I would have to say that my biggest weaknesses are shoes and nail polish. :) I have really sensitive skin, so I really can't wear makeup unless it's natural (and the type of makeup that works is SOOO expensive!), so nail polish I can do. :)

Isn't it great when we find the things we're looking for at a great price!?!?!? I'm so glad you found those shoes. :-)

Those shoes are amazing! They look so cute on you, too!

I'm a makeup/skincare girl, through and through. It used to be clothes and shoes, but now I'll wear dirt cheap, thrifted, hand-me-down clothes and shoes in order to have nicer skin care (if you had my nasty skin, you'd understand). It's a tradeoff, for sure, because sometimes I'll see a nice piece and think, wow, I'd really like it, but then I remember my aging, leather sack of a face and quickly move on. :)

I'm a HUGE makeup person. I'm also a HUGE blazer and cardigan person. I love the J.Crew replicas that I can get off Groopdealz, since it is like $9 vs $180. I used to be a purse and shoe person, but not so much anymore. I still love shoes, but they have to be flats.

Yes, these are perfect Rachel! Love them!
And I really hope I get to hear you and Angel's dialogue in person some day haha

Shoes always!! Never have been into make up. I do wear it just not the artistic side. My husband is not a huge fan of the art of make up either. I go through phases with purses, scarfs, jewelry.

I love your new shoes! I go in spurts! Last year I was all about the cardigans. This year I think I am all about some funking leggings!

Your shoes look SO COOL! I'm a big big fan of jewelry (rings and chains most!) Anytime I'm out for shopping, I might be dangling on jewelry stalls!

I love make up , especially mascaras. It's another thing that I'm soooo out of make up skills. Enjoy your shoes , I can't believe what a good deal you got.

Hahah "I only like sparkly shoes." I tend to get this way about everything. I get obsessive and must have all the things! Luckily I don't have any expensive obsessions but hey, $8 bottles of nail polish add up, too! haha

Great pattern-mixing! I think it's funny that the first thing I thought when I noticed your thumbnail in the Style Sessions linkup was, "ooh, nice scarf" -- so I guess that answers your question ;)

Happy New Year!

Shoes. Lots of other style-staples have a place in my heart, but shoes always slay me. Love your haute-hipster look here, and the shoes work so well. Sweet combo with jeans!
Have a brilliant New Year!

Great shoes! And... you mean Doc Martens CAN'T be worn with anything?

I think shoes.. I always think I don't have many until I realize our shoe rack is being taken over by me. :)

I wish I could narrow it down to just one thing... I'm afraid to say SHOPPING is my weakness!

That dress is so perfect for you. I love it.

"I only like sparkly shoes" hahaha!

YES to oxfords!! I bought 2 pairs on sale with my Christmas money this year, because I've been dying for some for a long time even though I never see anyone else wear them. I got a pair of white and gold ones last night that James said look like old man shoes. I don't care, because I can't stop daydreaming about them.

your whole outfit is to die for!!! Love everything about it!!!!
