Normally Extraordinary

I'm thinking that ought to be the tagline of this blog. Either that or Extraordinarily Normal but when you switch the words the meaning changes slightly.

I can blend in pretty well as an average Jane. My stats are extremely normal. Average height, brown hair of medium length, brown eyes. Twenty-something wife. Blogger. Typical. Hasn't everyone heard this before? Yet I might still surprise you with an unexpected characteristic (or two, or three).

Way back in August, I published the post I Want to be a Blogger, where I admitted openly that I have big dreams when it comes to the world of writing. I love words, and I want a career in them. I also admitted that I don't think a word career is something I can accomplish without help, and I asked that you guys, the people who come back and read again and again, that if you liked what you read here, that you'd recommend me to someone looking for an interesting blog to read. I asked that if you really did love a post, that you'd share it. I asked for help in my journey as a writer.

And you all have helped! I've been so thankful in the months since that post for all the times I've spied many of you sharing my blog posts with your friends in different ways. Thank you! It means so much to me to know when something I write rings true to others, and hey, I even like knowing that I can make people laugh once in a while!

A giveaway is a rare event around here, as you might already know if you've been here a while. But I thought that in the spirit of February's adventure I'd brave the strange and scary world of giveaways.

I decided to combine two prizes, one a bit extraordinary and one completely normal, in honor of myself. The first is a 12x12 paint-on-silk art print, straight from Cambodia. My parents brought this back and donated it to the cause. And on the normal side is a shimmery scarf with a subtle gold tint. It's still February, we still need scarves.

This is quite a normal giveaway, please read the terms and conditions section for all the usual rules, only open to residents of the USA and all of that traditional stuff. But notice I put in a slightly unusual way to get an extra entry: by sharing the blog itself or a specific post, whether this giveaway post or any post you truly enjoy with others, and this is an entry that you can repeat each day. Tweeting, Pinning, Blogging--I know ya'll are the experts at all of that, and I figured an extra entry is a little "thank you" for sharing the good news that I exist. Aren't you happy I exist? (heehee!)

The extraordinary makes the "Plain Jane" pretty awesome. And both the print and scarf are beautiful!!

hahaa, you are so random even in giveaways. Beautiful scarf my dear lady! I look forward to hearing about your journey!

I could never pick just one favorite blog! However, each of my favorite blogs are very different, so I guess I like them for different reasons. One blog I go to for consistently funny stories everyday, another for great home decor ideas, another for my favorite fashion posts, and yours for whatever new adventure you might be embarking on on that day! That's what I love about your blog, I never really know what I'm going to get - but it's always good :)

This is such a lovely giveaway! I am pretty obsessed with scarves and a painting from Cambodia? Too cool! Anyway, I love it when bloggers are true to themselves. I don't know if I like this because it is something I struggle with, or what. I have always been a people pleaser and sometimes I see it coming out in my blog. I start writing what I think people want to read and less of what I want to write. Anyway, so that is what I admire most in my favorite blogs. When bloggers write about themselves and don't care what the readers really think as long as it represents them and makes them happy.

I love blogs that add humor and wit to even the most normal of topics. I also appreciate bloggers who take the time to not only reply to comments but visit your blog. You are great at all these things. I especially like blogs that have a random bear appear every now and again ;)

I appreciate honesty and diversity. I don't like the same old link-up posts and the same old material, I like it to mix things up!

Your prompt was kind of a hard question! I just appreciate good content, something I can relate too. I think sometimes that comes out as sarcasm. I love a writer with some humor!

So being honest here, I love your random writing! I think you've known the reason why I come nack again & again to your blog :)

I appreciate most open, honest writing that when you read it, you can hear the person speaking to you. While I still love flowey, beautiful posts, I can't always imagine the person using those words IRL. I guess I like a little bit of reality blogging.
