I Feel Like a Superhero When...

I wear my Wonder Woman Socks (but wasn't that obvious?).

My fridgerator is blindingly white due to an excess of cleanliness.

My mom emails me to tell me that a blog post I wrote was pure genius.

I pull all of the weeds out of the rock garden in front of the house.

I actually complete an excessively long craft project (i.e. making a dress).

I swing dance to an entire song without getting off-beat or mis-reading my partner's lead.

I've completed a phone call that I really didn't want to have to make.

I make bread with yeast in it and it rises (somehow, I always think it won't).

Somebody sends me a paper they'd like me to edit.

I receive a letter saying that, yes, my article has been accepted for publication in this magazine.

I find cabbage on sale for 14 cents a pound and successfully make it into a dinner Angel will actually eat (hint: spicy cabbage + other assorted vegetables soup).

I fall into bed after cleaning  up the remains of hosting a party with 40+ guests.

When do you feel like a superhero?

I enjoyed reading this post. I got to know you better Super Woman Rachel.

Enjoy your Thursday and the weekend, Ada. =)

The phone call one! Yes! Or, when I finally check something off that I've been putting off for a looooong time. Or when I'm able to help a girl learn 30 new french words in 45 minutes. :D

When I'm babysitting and I finally get the kid to sleep who has been fighting sleep {and most likely crying} for a half hour
When I lift something I don't think I have the muscles for but actually do :)

The phone call one! I hate making phone calls period. You have many talents, my friend :)

I totally feel that way about making phone calls in general, but especially ones I really don't want to make!

I give you props for even ATTEMPTING bread making! I click on recipes and then I see the words "yeast" or "knead" and I'm like, nahhhhhh. haha

All of those things would make me feel amazing, too! I never make bread because I'm always scared of yeast, too! And, I need those socks!

BLovedBoston said...

Love these!! Totally agree that when my mom calls to tell me about a blog post makes me happy!! I feel like a superhero when I am able to workout, make dinner and get all the other things on my to-do list done!! Happy Thursday!

OMG BUT THE BREAD ONE! WHY IS THAT SO TRUE?! I'm always afraid my yeast guys died or something IdunnoIdunnoman. Like is my water warm enough? Did I wait long enough? Bread is scary.

I now hate making phone calls. I do feel rather accomplished if I can manage to push one out of the way.

Those socks are brilliant. I bet you feel like you can stop the world from turning when you wear them ; )

I really need those socks haha. Agree about the fridge and the party clean up. Any time I can return something to it's former gloriously clean state, I feel like a superhero!

Fun post! I feel the same way about the phone calls, mostly because I hate all phone calls! And at work I feel awesome when I'm actually ahead on my paperwork. Super rare occasion, so it feels extra special =)

i relate to some of your superhero moments there, but my utmost superhero moment is when I'm driving myself home from work at 10 PM or later knowing that I have been productive the whole day. :)

Kate @ Another Clean Slate said...

How come no one ever tells me I am a genius? :)

I honestly don't think i have too many super hero moments in me any more. I'm leaning toward waking before the alarm goes off right now though.

After I teach a successful art class (no utter chaos and no paint spills, happy kids who learned alot!) and I feel like a super hero when I spend quality time reading and singing with my toddler. And, when I have self-control with oreos.

Loving this post! So many things I was nodding my head to like, "Yes! That's amazing!" I feel like a superhero after spending a few nights alone in my house. :( I didn't love it... but I conquered my fears. I'm just happy to not have to do it again for awhile!

I mostly feel like a superhero at work when someone realizes that my job isn't always easy and takes a certain personality! When I make it look easy, I feel pretty darn super!

Rebecca Harasym said...

I hear you about making a phone call that you don't want too! Good for you and those socks are fantastic!

Totally! I feel really accomplished when I stare out over my clean house. Or at work when I have to call someone about a billing discrepancy, when I finally hang up the phone I give myself a pat on the back :)

Patty said...

I agree with you Rachel on the clean fridge...what do you use to get your's so sparkling white??
I think for me I feel like a superhero when I do something I am afraid of like having a difficult conversation with someone (I hate confrontation!) or especially when I watch teens experience God through retreats/conferences/pilgrimages

Jennifer Prod said...

ha, i am surprised each and every time my dough rises - it just seems like it should be more work, right? or it's just that awesome that yeast really makes it rise? anyway, i feel ya on that one :) and those socks? so fun.

Jayda said...

Those socks are so awesome!! And the bread one made me giggle...I'm always surprised when it rises too :-)

And I feel like a super hero as soon as I cross the last thing off my to-do list. I tend to be overly ambitious with my lists, so it doesn't always happen!

Sarah Pete said...

These are all fantastic! Whoot! Go you!
I always feel such relief when I complete dreaded phone calls, too . . .

Yes to having a clean refrigerator! I hate doing it but it's always so worth it!! That and the microwave :)

Those socks are pure coolness! I feel like a superhero when a former student tells me in some way I changed their world..corny, but it is what it is! :)

1)Those socks are awesome. I too have a large collection of Supergirl/Wonderwoman/Batgirl tees, but no socks. I think it's time for a shopping trip. 2) I love that your mother reads your blog. I'm not quite sure that my mom even knows what a blog is 3) I love that you swing dance. You'll have to post a video. That would make an awesome v-log.

Now to answer your question. I feel like a superhero when I manage to keep my daughter alive for the day. She takes after her father, so it's easier said than done :)

I LOVE those socks. I have Wonder Woman coffee cups and they're my favorite. Thanks for stopping by my blog the other day.

I agree with a lot of those. I feel the most like a super hero when I pull off a full day of meal planning, Alina meal planning, writing a few blog posts for the week.. getting the house cleaned- all of these accomplishments done in one day makes me feel like Super MOM!

I love this! I'll add that any time I can cross everything off of my "to-do" list and even get started on something not yet on the list makes me a super hero. And congrats on getting an article published!

Awesome post idea!!! Hmmm, let me think...a couple that spring to mind are when I'm having a good enough day on the health front to leave the house and when I have a marathon blog post writing session. I'm always really ramped up and feeling superhero-y when I finish a big craft project, you listed amongst yours.

Those socks are all kinds of awesome, dear gal!

I need wonder woman socks! I feel like a super hero when I but in the extra 110% in the gym (especially when I didn't want to show up in the first place) or when a bad run turns into an awesome run.

Those are awesome socks :) When I make dinner and still have energy to clean the kitchen up afterward I feel like a super hero. It's a bonus if my kids actually eat the dinner!
