Spring Style
When the first weekend in March brings us temperatures close to 0 and several more inches in snow, I decide that I can handle the situation in two ways:
1. Start wearing t-shirts and sneakers, with the expectation that dressing so hopefully will bring warmer weather.
*or*
2. Give in to peer pressure, or, in this case, icy cold winds, and don't leave the house unless dressed in a snowsuit.
Obviously, for now I've chosen sanity, though there's no guarantee that I will continue such reasonable behavior if this snow refuses to melt. I'm still feeling that no matter how many layers I put on, I can't get warm. I might be forced to take drastic action. After all, the stores are already selling flip-flops.
In contrast to flip-flops, in the photos above, taken yesterday, I'm wearing:
A tank top
Sweater
Jeans
Socks
2 scarves
1 pair of gloves
1 pair of mittens
Winter coat
Snowsuit
Boots
Yes, the snow is gorgeous. However, although I've lived here for years and I do know that March does not actually signal the coming of Spring...I can't help but wish it did.
I will survive. I'll be patient. I'll stay indoors and embroider to keep my fingers from freezing. But I miss my pretty clothes. In spite of the fact that I'm a blogger, and bloggers love refashions, there's not really any way I can think of to make a 20 year old pair of coveralls look both pretty and functional. And, in the case of 9 degrees...I have to choose function.
How are you handling the chilly weather?

I am not good with dealing with massive amounts of snow! Our 4-5 storms this year have about done me in! Function definitely comes before fashion when it comes to that much snow!

I haven't worn a snowsuit in years but if we have another winter like this one I'll definitely have to invest in one!
Haha this post made me smile! :)
Brrr! We're supposed to get ten inches of fresh snow here this week. It's been pretty icy and cold, and I'm definitely wrapped up in layers to stay warm. I'm just at the point where I go for practical over pretty. I want to be comfortable!!
On another note, I saw a girl wearing short shorts the other night in zero degree (literally zero degree!) weather. My boss was like, "Did you see her shorts? They were more Daisy than Dukes!" But then she had boots on...I don't get it!!! My legs hurt just looking at her!
i got into the office at 9am and it's 1035am and i haven't taken off my winter boots, scarf or coat. it's freaking freezing here (-29) and will be this way until wednesday. i'm officially boycotting mother nature.

I got stuck in my ditch this morning, went into work only to find out there was a 2 hour delay, and then as soon as I bought my morning coffee the school closed, along with the bus routes. I just wrote a post on the adventure. The crazy thing is, it was in the 60's here yesterday, and now we're a few inches deep in snow and ice.
hahaha that is my kind of OOTD photo! All these cutesy photos I'm like "yeah ok, but it's 2 degrees in Chicago, so... nope."
You poor guys in Michigan. Hope spring will arrive pretty soon Rachel. I can imagine that you really are fed up with all that snow by now. Nevertheless cute pics!!!! Love them.
I wish I could commute in that outfit. Freezing today!
Aha! I love this! You are a rock star. Go get em in that cold weather, girl!!! :)
xx
Haha all I needed in this post was the title and the first picture and then I started laughing. The weather is MISERABLE right now. But I agree - we can be patient and make it through!
I would LOVE to have an adult snow suit! I hardly go out in the winter but still... it'd be nice for going to and from my car! haha
So it was super warm on Saturday. I didn't even need a coat to walk around the outdoor mall...and then there's today and the snow covered ground again. Not cool. So ready for spring!

Staying indoors, making coffee and cooking brunch. Lol Watching tons of Sex & the City! This snow is not slowing down and that's unusual for this area, I'm done with it quite frankly. However, if i had a snowsuit like yours I would probably dance around in the snow too :P Not really, I'm particularly fond of lazy days on my sofa/bed and cleaning up. :) You do look adorable all bundled up haha enjoy the snow Rachel! -Iva
that's pretty much what I look like walking into work today. i'm so over this snow and cold weather. i'm just dreaming of warmer days, hopefully sooooooon.
We'll make it through, I just know it! I know that March does not signify the beginning of spring, but every single year I expect good, warm things anyway. Haha! The things we tell ourselves.
I'm handling it by staying inside! LOL but I'm seriously thinking I need to move away. This is beyond ridiculous now.
Your title and photo made me laugh.
bisous

I'm handling it by not leaving my house.
I'll bundle the kid up A Christmas Story style and let her outside with Daddy. But me? Eh...not so much.
Had my first snow day today! Celebrated by sleeping in and making some creamy cauliflower soup - but there's no way I'm going out in that, even if I did own a snowsuit!
Ugh I'm so with you. I keep wanting to dig through my storage and bring out my spring/summer clothes. I miss them. But alas, it's still snowy and in the single digits. Ugh
I'm handling the cold weather by pouting. We have gotten some glorious days of 65+ degrees, which has been heaven. I wore maxi dresses again, which are probably one of my favorite pieces of clothing ever. Then...it got cold again. So I'm pouting.
it has snowed twice this year. Each time it snows school shuts down and people go crazy. This time we only got 8 inches. Our snow melts in a week, because it reaches 30, 40 degrees, and rarely gets below 20 here.
I know what you mean! This winter has been incredibly hard on everyone! On Sunday night we had -50 degrees with the windchill here! Scary! Would be nice to wear some spring clothes soon!

I totally agree! I don't see spring coming until May, sometimes June! I get so excited when we are consistently above 40 degrees. I am kind of jealous of your snow suit by the way.
ehehe, oh my gosh, I love this set of photos! That second one... total snow diva right there. Your posts are always such a hoot, and I really love your personality, lady! :D Work that snow suit.
I couldn't imagine temps that cold, but it was 20 degrees today, and for someone living in the south, that's pretty harsh! I want my nice bike riding weather! Whine whine whine. :)
Oh gosh I know, we're lucky to see spring by mid April honestly. I love you posing in your snow gear haha.
It was 7 degrees this morning. Seven. 7.
IT'S MARCH. All of Oklahoma is in forced hibernation.
Haha, only you could rock a snowsuit like that! I'm just casually not going to mention the weather in CA...

Awwww no Rachel! That is truly awful that March does not mean spring will start! :( In Kunming I have to report that once Chinese new year is over it means we're almost in the clear, not that is was all that cold anyway, and when the blossom trees start showing off it's Spring for sure. Any chance this is where you're moving to?
You look like you're handling 'Spring' well :) I'd suggest painting or pinning flowers on the snow suit, or maybe a lei around your neck... of course, it'd have to be fake, since I doubt flowers would handle the snow too happily.
Good gracious, y'all have gotten so much snow!
I couldn't agree more. I wish March meant it's actually Spring...

I must see this embroidery! (Cross stitch nerd here.) I don't break out the weather-inappropriate spring clothes until the first official day of spring... even though it's usually still REALLY cold.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who literally can't warm up! Even with layers of clothing/blankets and a heater blowing directly on me, I have a chill this season. Now that we're into March I'm hopeful it will be over soon :) Where's the sunshine and warmth?!
Hehe, love this! Let's all hope that we can pack our winter clothes away asap. You still look cute!
I want *real* Spring style!! Jeans and t-shirts. Light jackets. NO GLOVES!! LOL!
I wish I could sympathize, but I live in miami. Love this though! Stopping by from SITS!

Brrrr!!! I like the snow suit!
I just moved to Minnesota last April and I'm having a terrible time adapting to the weather. I so miss California. I keep thinking, "Why in the heck does anyone choose to live here?!?" If my fiance wasn't getting his MBA at the U of M, we'd be out of here ASAP. Sadly, I'm stuck in the tundra for at least another 5 years. On a positive note, I might just go crazy if next winter is this bad. I figure if I lose my marbles, I won't care that it's -15 with a -30 windchill.
I hope spring reaches your way!!! Love the snow outfit on you!
I've heard if you wear flip flops and paint your toe nails pink that spring will come either way. hahahahaha. totally kidding. but hey, wouldn't hurt to try it. you don't really seem like a pink toe nail painting flip flop wearing kind of girl though....true?
