New Glasses {2015}

{Angel's preferred method of taking photos of me}

I figured, since the last glasses I bought, back in 2012, got a blog post all to themselves, that my new pair of glasses should at least get the same sort of treatment.

My lack of love for glasses is well-known, as is the fact that whenever I can get away with it, I simply skip wearing them. But sometimes, like when I actually drive or go to the movie theater, glasses are necessary. It was time for an update.

These glasses were chosen for two reasons:

1) They were the cheapest I could find after shopping around--total cost, 179RM or approx $41 USD at today's exchange rate.

2) The frames are purple. I've always thought purple glasses were the best glasses.

These frames feel like the kind of glasses that the main girl wears at the beginning of the movie, but then after she takes them off, she suddenly gets a promotion/turns into the most popular girl in school/becomes a princess.

But when I was wearing this outfit, glasses included, I walked past a couple of aunties in the hallway and I heard them murmuring "Cantiknya!" {"Pretty!"} in stage whispers so I'd say that's a good sign. Maybe I'll just be the kind of princess who wears glasses once in a while to remind herself that she is but a mortal.

  2. I've always loved glasses. There are so many cute options and they add personality. Which works out well since my vision is pretty much dreadful. A few years ago I switched to contacts and, while I love the convenience, I really miss the fun factor! :) These glasses are so cute and totally you!

  3. I have purple glasses! I chose a fun color since I don't wear them all the time; in fact, I have no idea where the are right now. I am supposed to wear them for driving at night, and they help me to see the screens at church.

  4. I'm the same, I really don't get on with my glasses! I never used to have to wear them and now I wear them full time! I think the key is buying something that you like (as much as you can like!) and making sure they can go with all your favourite outfits! Think of them as an accessory!

  5. Rachel, I just love how you chose your glasses, that is the best!

    I've had glasses since I was 8 years old, just for reading and the likes but it's always something I've looked forward to, changing the frames. Glasses for me reflect my personality, and essentially become a part of who I am. I'm sporting my current frames for the third year running but I did have the prescription changed. I love these frames so much, they're no longer in production, so I think I'll hold onto them for quite a while: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/522839837969805787/

  6. Super cute! I always hold on to one pair of frames forever. This is the first year I got a second pair of glasses.

  8. I only wear my glasses if I'm driving at night or watching a movie too! I hate wearing my glasses. My eyelashes hit them; they fall off my nose. Maybe it's time I buy new glasses too?

  9. I think those are really cute! I wear contacts most of the time but I bought a pair of glasses I actually like last time so I'm wearing them ab it more often now.

  10. That's exactly how I feel about glasses -- I should wear them way more often than I do...

    I love the pair you chose! Super cute!

  11. Super cute, Rachel! I got these big, hipstery glasses last year and I still adore them. Plus, yeah, they were cheap :P I wear contacts the majority of the time, but sometimes it's nice to wear an outfit based on some funky glasses!

  14. Cute! I'm in the process of getting new glasses, too! The last pair I got was in 2010, but Rhys snapped them in half last week while I was in the shower! I didn't even know he could reach them when I put them up on the sink!!!!

  15. I wish I could skip wearing mine, but I wouldn't be able to drive without them. Your new pair are super cute! And purple frames are AH-Mazing!

  18. I like the glasses! They look great on you and I'd definitely prefer colored glasses over just black or brown ones AND they are good color pop with your streak of blue hair =)

  20. They're terrific! So fun and hip - plus, you can't beat a great dark, solid hued pair like that on the versatility front. I think they more than warrant a blog post of their own. If I were to get new/more frames (I say "more" because, I only have one pair each of glasses and prescription sunnies), I'd probably blog about them right away, too.

    Big hugs & tons of happy wishes for the month of November,
    ♥ Jessica
