Turquoise Hair + Yellow Duckies

A week ago, my sister arrived here with plans to spend the next two months of her summer break in Malaysia. If that weren't cool enough, she also brought suitcases full of awesome stuff, including a couple bottles of haircolor for me, which was a major relief since I haven't been able to find semi- or demi-permanent brights anywhere here. I mixed a pastel turquoise and a blue that she'd brought for the results you see here. The turquoise was stronger than I thought it would be, which means I can officially add one more color to my history of haircolors (see this really old post for fuchsia, purple, and blue). BTW....I've had some really awesome hair, haven't I?

Since the turquoise hair wasn't enough creativity for one week, I woke up one morning and decided to cross-stitch myself some yellow rubber duckie earrings. I didn't actually have any earring hooks, but I asked my family to scrounge around and see if they had any earrings that were missing mates, or rusty, or had missing rhinestones, or something of that sort that made them unwearable--and the quest was successful! I stitched two layers of cross-stitch fabric together to cover up the ugly backside of the stitched duckie, attached them to the earring hooks with a jump ring, and they were everything I hoped they would be! I have a couple more pairs of scrounged earring backs so I won't be surprised if I make a couple more pairs of cross-stitch earrings in the future. They are a very satisfying tiny craft.

So tell me, what did you do that was awesome last week? I dare you to beat turquoise hair and tiny duckies. Although if you do beat that, I will be very happy, because the more awesomeness in the world, the better.

I love that color! It especially looks good with your natural hair color. So pretty!

I love the cross-stitched earrings! Those are so cute and it is such a creative idea! The turquoise also looks really good. I'm usually not one for "weird" haircolors, but I think that turquoise tends to look really good on people. One of my friends once dyed a strip of my hair turquoise (temporary dye) and I quite liked it! One of the awesome things that I did last week was visit The American Pigeon Museum with a friend of mine. Apparently Oklahoma City is the National Pigeon Racing headquarters, and pigeons are a big deal here (who knew?). The museum was pretty small but quaint, and there were cages with about 9 or so super fancy schmancy pigeons and we got to hold some of them! It was very, very awesomely exciting :)

I do so love your bold hair colour!

Those earrings are ingenious.

We went to an estate sale where I scored four impeccable vintage dresses. For once someone didn't arrive before me and scoop up what I was looking for.

"I woke up one morning and decided to cross-stitch myself some earrings." I absolutely love this about you. If you want to make something or do something, you just do it!! Those earrings are absolutely precious--you have so many hidden talents I don't know of yet! And your hair, of course, is impeccable. :)

Your hair looks great! A friend of mine quite often goes for bright colours like turquoise and purple and I think it's suits here. Well done on the cross-stitch earrings too, very random! :)

Well I did nothing as cool as the duckies, but yesterday I did make pate choux pastry for the first time, and had a hair dying accident. It makes your turquoise streak look really, really cool in comparison lol.

What fun! I love your hair! Someday I will be daring and add some fun color to my locks for a brighter presentation. I also love the earrings. I used to cross stitch all of the time, but have long since fallen out of the habit. Perhaps I will need to pull out the needle and floss. :)

Haha! I am not sure i did anything as awesome as that! I did some stuff that was really meaningful for me spreading awareness for child trafficking but nothing that was super "fun". I got out my paints today but I didn't get to them- BUT I left them out so tomorrow morning I hope I can create something or begin. :) Love your hair AND the duckies! So cute and I love that you just whipped them up!

Oooh! That turquoise looks amazing against the brown of your hair, and can we all just take a moment to appreciate those earrings?! Ducks are my favourite so I died when I saw them. :3
