Once a week, during my 31 Dresses challenge, I plan to post {In Memoriam} posts, looking back at old dresses I have loved and lost. I still wore a dress for the 2nd day of the challenge (actually, a red skirt with my Toy Story t-shirt), and I meant to instagram it...but didn't. Ha!
I'm not sure there's ever been a dress I've loved more. It even perfectly matched my favorite pair of Keds. Angel also loved this dress. I let it go because there's only so much space in a suitcase, it wasn't professional wear for teaching, and the fit wasn't terrible comfortable--a tight sheath dress with absolutely no stretch is not the coziest thing to wear, but man, I loved it.
Originally a bridesmaid's dress that I wore when I was 16, once my sewing prowess had developed far enough, I altered the original white straps on top into something a little more me. I loved how the new top turned out, but nothing would make this dress entirely practical--white dresses never are.
I laughed at how with both of these outfits, the photo background is our old chicken coop and the brooder house. Living on a century-old farm sure made for great fashion photo ops. I have a harder time finding places I like to take photos here.
Realistically, the only pure white dress that made it across the ocean with me was my wedding dress, and those are never accused of being practical.
What's the least-likely color that you'll be found wearing?
Those dresses are pretty. I like the polka-dots. Pure white is definitely not a color I wear often (it gets stained way too easily). But probably the least-likely color for me to wear is orange. I have one shirt with orange plaid on white...but I think that's all. It's just not a very flattering color on me as a very pale-complected redhead.
I love both of these! So fun and colorful!
I love the idea of this series! I don't own a lot of white dresses just because of the stain factor, but I still find myself trying them on every summer because they seem perfect for the heat and beach. :) I generally don't buy very pale colors since they look bad on my super pale skin and dark hair--I love blacks and reds and bright blues!
I love the new top on the second dress. Both of these are really cute on you! Too bad they didn't make the cut. White really isn't very practical for me. I'm so messy.
Oooh, I have my own white dress story!
When I was about 6 years old I had a GORGEOUS white dress with big pink roses all over it, with a large sash at the waist. It was divine, and I LOVED it. However, I only wore it a few times. Why, you ask? Because it was sleeveless, and I had white shoulders on top of my brown arms, and I was so embarrassed to show those white shoulders!! Oh, the vanity of a 6-year-old! And what a waste of such a pretty dress!
I have a white dress (and a white pair of pants for that matter) that I own and wear pretty regularly. Definitely have to be more careful when I'm rocking white, but so far so good! No spills yet. ;) Love how you altered that second dress!
That polka dot dress is super duper cute! Too bad it wasn't more comfortable. I think it would be a great dress to wear for teaching. Kids like fun clothes like that.
I love dresses! I have many of them and next summer I should do a dress challenge because I don't always wear all my dresses and it's kind of wasteful to have them sitting there.
I love how you altered the top of the dress! It looks amazing. I rarely wear white skirts, dresses, or even tops-no matter how careful I am, stuff always gets stained. And I guess I'd rather flop in the dirt and grass or eat spaghetti than try to keep my white clothes sparkling white, anyways ;)
I agree, white dresses are impractical. But that first one is so cute!
White is also a colour I avoid. Not only is it impractical, but I find it washed me out.

I think for me, that would be green! I didn't even realize it before reading this post but i barely have any green clothes haha.
