10 Things that Shouldn't be Difficult, But Are

{Hot air balloon pictures are appropriate for any and all blog posts. So let it be written, so let it be done. Just go with it}

10 Things that Shouldn't be Difficult, But Are:

Getting dressed by yourself when there's a zipper on the back of your dress

Taking a vitamin every single day

Remembering what day of the week it is

Rolling up the yoga mat after a workout

Remembering what year it is

Using up all of the food in your kitchen before it expires

Actually taking the grocery list that you wrote to the store

Effectively spreading out a paycheck equally over a month of expenses

Putting the bookmark back in my book before closing it

Locating my prescription eyeglasses (every. day.)

I'm not sure what exactly it is about these daily activities which makes them far more difficult than they ought to be, but at least, in life, there's always balance, and that's why there are other activities which are far easier than they ought to be:

Eating just one more...or five more...or ten more chips (with dip, of course!)

Thinking up a plausible reason to procrastinate on a necessary chore

Reading "just one more chapter" until an entire hour has passed

......................................................

What could you add to the list of things which are surprisingly difficult or startlingly easy?

I love this post!
First of all, hot air balloon pics always work! Totally agree on that one!
And I would add, knitting just one more row before going to bed or watching just one more episode on Netflix.
Ha, I know, why are these things so hard!

I'd add putting on a sports bra right after you've taken a shower. Do you know it's possible to get claustrophobic when you're shoulders are locked in a bra that's rolled up your back where you can reach it. File that tidbit away. ;-)

These posts you do are so funny... and true and very sad. I make a point not to purchase clothing that has zippers/buttons/any kind of fastening device that I CANNOT REACH. And I feel you on the bookmark thing. I usually end up falling asleep and let the book fall where it may. The struggle...

You always think of the best blog topics!!! I always LOL at your ideas and words. Remembering what year it is...SO ME! hahaha. I swear, sometimes I still think it's 2016!

Haha I totally agree with most of these. In fact, I can't find my glasses right now!

Taking vitamins...yes! Haha I laughed at these, because they're all so true!

Oh gosh, yes to almost all of these! Except the glasses, I had LASIK so I don't need glasses anymore! But all of the rest of those, totally!

shouldn't be so difficult: flossing; hitting the gym; drinking water.

shouldn't be so easy: eating an entire blt pizza from california pizza kitchen (it's not on the menu anymore, and the last time i've gone, i had to argue with the server to get it); lounging in bed; drinking coca-cola.

OMG this post is so like me! I had to LOL at the grocery list because that happens to me all the time. I couldn't actually remember taking my grocery list with me at all!

Yes! So much yes! My husband and I were just talking the other day about how basic life stuff (we call it lifeing) shouldn't be so hard!

This makes me laugh at myself because I do this all the time. One little thing becomes such a difficult thing for me. Like closing the closet door that everyone leaves open. It's such a little thing and yet I make it so much more difficult by letting it bother me & making a fuss about it to the people who leave it open all the time. Thanks for the good read. :)

LOL! Yes!! rolling up the yoga mat or putting the blocks away after you're done with class is so difficult for me! I know it's a simple task, but its such a pain. The vitamin thing too! Also, throwing trash away in my car. Sometimes, things just... pile up. I don't know how to change a tire but you need 10 half empty water bottles? I got some!

This is such a fun post! I can honestly say though that I do not have a hard time taking my vitamins because I own an old lady pill box. YASSS!! Well, I have a lot of ailments so I have to take a lot of medications in order to function so taking them is as routine as changing my underwear for the day - oh yeah, I went there in your comment section!
I never eat just one chip - it's half a bag baby.

Kim said...

Totally agree with the "using all food before it goes bad"...my addition is drinking enough water everyday :(

Kristin said...

I'll add: remembering to take the shopping list out of your bag once you're actually at the store. I write it, I take it with me, I never pull it out.

Plus - finding your keys that get lost EVERY. DAY. Getting on the bus to work. Holding everything you need to carry but you only have two arms. Cuddling your cat enough. Simply existing! GAWD!!

I lose my glasses every single day! I always shove them somewhere before bed, and in the morning I can never remember where they are. I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Rachel Gault said...

Yes to all of these! I'm still writing 2016 sometimes, haha.

Unknown said...

Hahaha this is so true!! I can't standtaking a vitamin every morning. It's the worst! I also can never remember where I put my phone. I am always walking around the house looking for it.

You mentioned finding your glasses. For me it is my readers. I would love to have one pair in every room and my car. Thanks for a fun and very true post:-)

Eating chocolate is far too easy.

I'm pretty sure I've had a problem with each one of these at least once. Especially the glasses...I need them badly but can never find them haha. Great list :)

So true! All of these are very accurate, especially trying to zipper yourself into a dress.

Oh man, so so true!! I giggled reading because I can relate to most of these! A few for me include forgetting where I put my cell phone, forgetting to floss, and forgetting to put clothes from the washer to the dryer! I used to be pretty good about laundry...until life started throwing all the distractions at me!

Unknown said...

Haaaaaa: "So let it be written, so let it be done."
That's great.
I would add: Remembering how old you are. I seriously have to ask my husband sometimes (and I'm still in my 20s!). Also, watering the plants every day. Poor plants.

Ali Arnone said...

Drinking water! Why am I so bad at something so simple?!

Divya @ EatTeachBlog said...

Yes, yes, and yes! That using up your food in the refrigerator. I swear - I buy groceries just to let them rot in my fridge.

Rach said...

Oh man... the zipping up a dress on my own thing. I have long enough arms that I can usually manage it, but if Christopher is in the room then I definitely ask for help so I don't have to contort my body, haha!

ha ha! I love your list. I forget my shopping list when I go out every. single. time! :)

Brittany Putman @gracelovelife.com said...

I usually walk into a room and then have a hard time remembering why I'm there.

Robin said...

I put a grocery list on my phone, but I don't want to mess with it at the store. I think I can remember everything on it. I usually forget something.

AnneMarie said...

SO TRUE. Dresses with zippers in the back are so challenging. Sometimes I manage to be flexible enough to get that zipper up and down myself, but too many times growing up, I'd have to hold it together as best as I could while wandering around the house calling for my mom to come and save me haha.

rooth said...

Surprisingly difficult - remembering to floss. I'm the WORST at that

Crystal said...

Yes to the glasses! I swear I put them in a different spot every day and I don't think about finding them until I've taken my contacts out.

Laura Darling said...

Yes! Mine would be putting the laundry away. Washing, dying, and folding are no problem for me. Getting it back in the drawer/closet? Terrible.

Bryce Rae said...

I've never tried putting on the skirt when the zip is at the back........ I'll get back to you :)

Alexandra S said...

Ha I love this! One of mine is remembering a glass of water before crawling into bed each night. I almost always end up having to get right back up or getting up in the middle of the night.

Absolutely agree with all of these, except the zip one. I have unusually long and bendy arms (the one thing hypermobility is good for) so I can generally manage most zips. I'm quite proud of this fact. Have you heard of the coat hanger thing? Although so many zips have no holes in them now. Anyway... other things I find impossible are leaving the house on the first try, and buying ONLY what is on my list when food shopping.

(So many typos. Phone typing is hard!)

Something that's surprisingly difficult these days: actually remembering to call my kids their names and not mixing them up (or calling them by the dog's name). :D Love this post!!

Farrah said...

These are all so very true! I'd add "just watching one episode on Netflix" and "pressing snooze just one more time" to the list of "way too easy to do," haha!

Midnight Cowgirl said...

Love the Ten Commandments reference! I don't understand why dresses have back zippers. They are so tricky to do by yourself.
