Our USA Vacation in Numbers

35 Days

3 States

6 Homes we slept in

1 National park

2 Disney theme parks

9 Books purchased at thrift stores

4 Beaches (Pacific Ocean (x2), Lake Huron, Lake Michigan)

1 Time I was recognized by a blog reader while waiting for the Memorial Day parade to begin (Hi, @Shellystirs!) I feel like I would be bad at recognizing people from the internet in real life. So if you see me and my purple hair, say hi!

9 Hairstyles I did for various siblings, cousins, and aunts on the wedding day. Hence the church bathroom selfie where my temporary salon was set up.

7 Times I drove a car (y'all should be impressed)

3 Museums

4 Boxes of Wheat Chex consumed

2 Bike rides down dirt roads. Ahh! Perfection.

2 Times we went out swing dancing

28 Cousins that we got to see, some on his side, most on mine, and that's not nearly all the cousins we have!

1 Wedding

53 Approximate number of old family stories told while three generations of our extended family sat around in pj's giggling and spinning yarns the morning after the wedding. :)

9 Dogs petted by Angel

4 Cats petted by Angel (Does any long-time blog reader want to guess or remember what this cat's name is?)

2 Piñatas

2 Bonfires

3 Lighthouses spotted

20 Approximate # of plain bagels with cream cheese consumed by me

2 Visits to the driving range

3 Zoos

3 Arcade stops

9 Conversations where I suggested to beloved relatives that they ought to make some plans to visit us in our part of the globe. The future will determine how convincing I was...

3 Items Angel won in claw machines (I didn't even know it was possible to win things from claw machines)

1 Complete-Family Photo Taken in Texas

1 Complete-Family Photo Taken in Michigan (taken with no planning, after 10 p.m., when most of us just wanted to sleep. The family photo from the wedding will look much more glamorous and coordinated...and awake.)

0 Times we used the swimsuits we'd packed

3 Visits to Panda Express (at Angel's request)

1 Bear costume (the chihuahua isn't a fan)

5 Haircuts given (3 sisters, 2 on Angel, one at the beginning and one at the end of the trip)

4 50-lb suitcases brought back full of gifts and items that will make life here a little comfier

38 Hours in transit for the return trip from Texas to Malaysia

Home sweet home!! More stories of adventures good, hilarious, and bad, and detailed posts and videos to come later on! In the meantime, how are you doing, internet? In case you couldn't quite tell from the numbers, I didn't really have time to sleep in May, let alone write and keep up with my blog friends...but now we're getting accustomed to everyday lives again!

Wow! I don't even know what to say! LOL at the bagels though. LOL I could eat my weight in bagels! Love the photos! Where did the bear costume come from? Hope you are spending the month unwinding and relaxing! You earned it for sure!

I LOVE your family pictures with Angel's family and with yours! Sounds like a pretty exhausting but awesome trip! I know it must be good to be home but hard to be off vacation now that you are back to normal. I always have that sense of "ready to be home but not ready to leave" when I am on a trip. haha.

That is so amazing!I love hearing what people gravitate towards, food wise in other coutnries. The bagels are pretty great - but panda express?!?!?!? To eat his own I guess!

Woah, you were definitely busy! I'm glad you got to spend so much time with family and it sounds like the wedding was great and all the other activities were enjoyable too. I'd be petting all the animals too - Angel has that right! LOL

I'd forgotten that your big trip was in May... When were you in California? Dan and I were in California for a week in May. Wouldn't it have been crazy if we were there at the same time?

Awww Michigan and Texas - both places I've been in the last month. I'm glad you had a wonderful trip and got to see your family

Rachel said...

Ding ding ding! Yes, it's Morphine! Angel's favorite and the only one of our cats still living--he lives the good life on my uncle's farm in Michigan.

Looks like you had a great time back in the States. I love the idea of doing the numbers post. How fun! Also, your family members all look so similar. I have a huge family but we all look different. :)

I've never bumped into a blogger before, that would be amazing. This looked like a fun trip!

What a great way to recap a trip! I'm going away for a few days soon, I might try to note down everything in numbers like this. Such a fun way to quickly list all the holiday highlights!

Being recognised by a reader would be such a cool - and awkward - feeling! I don't think I'd be game enough to go up to a blogger that I read if I saw them in public though 😫
